Mar 6th - This past weekend the Jax Men's team went down to Orlando and came
back with another win, shutting out Orlando 41-0. This win puts our
record at 7-2 with one more home game against Gainesville on March 27.
The game will be at Huffman Park with a 2 pm kickoff.
The win against Orlando also seals us as the #2 seed in Florida, and
as of right now we're slated to play Charleston up in Charleston on
April 10 for the South quarterfinals.
We hope to see everyone on March 27 for the last home game of the season.

Feb 20th - Jacksonville put another win on the board this weekend against a
physical Pelicans team.  In the first half the Jax offense was running
on all cylinders.  In the scrum they pushed the Pelicans around at
will.  If not for an early whistle by the ref, the pack would have
scored a try from a huge push on a 5 meter scrum.  Some sloppy defense
from Jax allowed the Pelicans to put some points on the board.
Halftime 30-14.  The second half was a much of the same of good
offense and mediocre defense.  Final score was Jax 50 - Pelicans 27.

Dec 19th - Last Saturday Jacksonville went down to play Daytona for the
2nd time this season.  Jacksonville took the lead quickly with a
penalty kick in the first minute.  Then a pack drive over the try line
to make it 10-0.  However Daytona capitalized on a series of defensive
mistakes made by Jacksonville, and they quickly took the lead by
halftime 18-13.  After a spirited pep talk from Coach Brown at half
the team stepped up their defense and started putting points up on the
board.  Final score was Jacksonville 42 - Daytona 24.

Ospreys Kick Off Spring Season - The Jacksonville Ospreys are set to kick off the 2008 - 2009 season by traveling to St. Petersburg to take on the Pelicans. The Ospreys are looking to take the new look team over to St Pete and hand the Pelicans their 6th consecutive loss to the Ospreys. There are a lot of new faces and even a new kit coming for the Ospreys this year. Coach Ricky Brown is excited about the chances of the Ospreys, but doesn’t want to get his hopes set too high for the season. “We’ve go a lot of new faces and people charging for positions that have been held for a long time by some of the senior players and that always makes for a stronger team”. The newly formatted season will have a 6 team matrix all playing a “home at home” schedule. This is the first time that the FRU has tried something of this nature and it will mean a longer season for the squad. Please make sure to visit www.jaxrugby.org for the entire schedule, scores and highlights of this season.

5th IN NATION - JRFC finishes the season ranked in the Top 8 in the country after winning Saturday in Austin, TX. After a pretty forgettable first half, the JAX boys turned it on to defeat Albuquerque 32-17, placing them in the top 8 with a chance to qualify for the Final 4. Unfortunately, it was not in the cards, with JRFC falling to Red Mountain from Mesa, AZ, 69-10. Great season boys, and a nice building block for next year. Red Mountain winning the Division II championship, JRFC ends the season ranked #5. That means the South #1 seed next year will get the #5 seed in the Final 16, up two spots from this year. Nice work.
